Scientific and technological dimension
The objectives defined within the framework of the maritime strategies for the Mediterranean coast (Stratégie nationale pour la mer et le littoral - SNML), aim at a cleaner, more productive sea and healthy ecosystems. It is within this framework, reconciling competitiveness and environmental respect, that the area's scientific and technological initiatives and policies are set.
Varied and interdisciplinary research programmes are conducted by the various research organisations on the façade (joint research units of the CNRS and universities, public institutions such as IFREMER) aimed at promoting the development of "blue growth". In the Région Sud, the project “Plan mer et litoral” aims at ensuring economic development and preservation of its heritage.
